Indicative Mood Verbs
Active Voice: Subject Performs the action of the verb
Present Tense:
* Action in present time
* “I walk to class. Or I am walking to class.”
Future Tense:
* Action in future time
* “I will walk to class.”
* Tense Indicator: sigma infix
* Note: Some stems will change spelling when the sigma infix (σ) is added
Imperfect Tense:
* Ongoing Action in past time
* “I was walking to class.”
* Tense Indicator: epsilon (ε) prefix
* Note: Some vowels will be lengthened when the epsilon (ε) prefix is added
* Words beginning with epsilon (ε) and alpha (α) will lengthen to eta (η)
* Words beginning with omicron (ο) will lengthen to omega (ω)
Aorist Tense:
* Completed Action in past time
* “I walked to class.”
* Tense Indicator: sigma (σ) infix & epsilon (ε) prefix
* Note: Some spellings will change with sigma (σ) infix & epsilon (ε) prefix.
Perfect Tense:
* Action in past with continuing consequences
* “I have walked to class.”
* Tense Indicator: stem duplication
Pluperfect Tense:
* Action in past with continuing consequences in the past
* “I have walked to class.”
* Tense Indicators: stem duplication, kappa infix (κ), epsilon (ε) prefix
* Note: Some spellings will change with the epsilon (ε) prefix as above.
Theta eta (θη) is the characteristic infix of the passive voice.
