RELATIVE PRONOUNS

êv, Ô, ê [who, that, which]

êvov [as great as, as many as]

êvtiv, Ôtiv, êti [whoever, whichever, whatever]

* Introduces a relative clause (e.g., “the man, who…”)

* CASE determined by function within relative clause

            * NUMBER & GENDER determined by antecedent

 

DEMONSTRATIVE PRONOUNS

          οÆtοv [this, these]

            αÇtçv [that, those] ** can be a personal pronoun, see below**

Functions either
            adjectivally—modifying a noun that it matches in case, number and  gender (e.g., “that boy,”
                 "this boy," "the same boy")
            or substantivally—serving as a noun (with case determined by function with the sentence), 
                 matching its antecedent in number & gender (e.g., “that one”)

 

INTERROGATIVE PRONOUNS

          t°v [who? what? how? why?] *accent*

            * Functions to introduce a question.

            * Case determined by function within sentence.

 

IMPERSONAL (indefinite) PRONOUNS

          tiv [anyone, someone, a certain one] *no accent*

Functions either

* adjectivallymodifying a noun that it matches in case, number and gender (e.g., “a certain
       boy")

* or substantivally—serving as a noun (with case determined by function with the sentence),
       matching its antecedent in number & gender (e.g., “some one”)

 

PERSONAL PRONOUNS

   ego [I, first person singular]

   omen [we, first person plural]

  se [you, second person singular]

  umin [you, second person plural]

  autos [he, she, it, they—third person]

 

* Only personal pronouns are parsed for PERSON (with an X, Y, or Z in the Analytical Greek New Testament).

 

            * Only THIRD person personal pronouns have antecedents.
