ANCIENT HISTORIES |
|
This collection of texts is united by its common subject, the history of the Greco-Roman world. The documents were written by a wide variety of pagan, Christian and Jewish authors, but all have direct bearing on the centuries surrounding the rise of early Christianity. It is only possible to understand the New Testament by understanding the historical context from which it arose--particularly the cultural context of the Roman Empire and Jewish religious life.
