Acts of Paul and Thecla

This document, which probably dates from the second century, relates the exploits of the Apostle Paul and a young virgin, Thecla, who falls under the influence of his gospel message (which teaches the resurrection from the dead and abstinence from sex).  This document is very important for the insight it gives about the gender expectations of women in early Christianity.
